Triumph Trans-American Charity Drive

Postby MickeyR » 22 Jun 2009 18:02

Not exactly a Wedge event, but notable, nonetheless!

John Macartney, formerly of Standard Triumph, will be driving across America, and part of Canada, in a restored Stag this summer. The purpose is to raise awareness and funds for the study of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Here is a link to the website, where you can read all about the undertaking, as well as check out the map of the route. If John and company are going to be in your area, be sure to come out in support.

From his journal entries, John seems to be having a ball! Some videos posted as well.

Today, he's tackling the "Tail of the Dragon" not far from here. For those who don't know about that:

318 curves in 11 miles, with fantastic scenery! Wish I could get over there to join 'em!

He's staying the night at our place on the 30th of the month; looking forward to meeting him.

Picked John and "Uncle Jack" up in Evansville yesterday afternoon, and had a nice drive back home, where we enjoyed some conversation and dinner.

Today we're headed to Nashville to the Lane Motor Museum and a visit with the Nashville British Car Club. Thursday it's off to Memphis to hand him over to the Memphis club.

If he is in your area, I do hope you'll make the effort to hook up with him. His stories about the drive and the cause for which he is making it are wonderful.

Ongoing journal is here: http://triumphtransamerica.org.uk/
