Clock stopped working

Not so long ago, I put a flashing LED in the dash and connected it to the cigerett lighter. Since then the clock on my dash has stopped working. Putting 1 and 1 together I have come up with 2, but can anyone confirm if the clock is also connected to the cigerett lighter and if it is likerly that when connecting the LED, I have knocked the clock wire?

The TR7 clock is notorious for just packing up. If you take it out and give it a bit of a bang you'll probably find it comes back to life... but only for a while!!!

Sometimes my clock works, often it doesnt..actually had both clocks in both cars working at the same time recently!

Try disconnecting the battery for a while. I had a "broken" one when I got the car but when I disconnected the battery and reconnected it the next day....voila it worked.....I don't know man, It's friggin British.

I tightened the earth strap from the battery, and later noticed my clock had come to life! (who looks at the time anyway, when you're driving a TR7?!)

I have owned three clocks for my car. All of them have worked "some of the time".

Last weekend I broke down and put an oil pressure gauge in their place. I think I will be much happier now.

I must admit that this is the first time that she has played up in the 4 years that I have had her. But I do like the idea of the oil pressure switch in her place.

My clock used to work only when I was having a problem with my voltage regulator. The first time it happened I had no idea why the clock just started working, the second time I recognized the problem and got it fixed much quicker.

When my clock stopped,i thought i'd try electro shock therapy treatment on
it! I took it out and zapped it with 12 volts clean and it started immediately. Has'nt stopped since!

Hi,
My advice is bin the clock and fit an oil pressure gauge.
It's a really easy job to fit an oil pressure gauge, I fitted one to my car and have done a technical article on the procedure, just click on the link.

I think you guys should hold your horses some here...
There's a solution for the erratic operation of the Wedge clock being tested just as we write this.
A guy over in America have come up with a clever fix for this. I now have a 'fixed' clock in my '8,
as have Jim TenCate in NewMexico, and there will be an article published in the next issue of the
TR8CCA newsletter giving all the details.

My clock have been tested (operating off of a simple 9V alkaline battery no less!) in the freezer,
in the fridge and in ordinary indoor temperatures for several days at a time - and it never stopped!
Now back in the car it keeps time almost to the second! A single, or maybe two, minutes off in
a week. That good it wasn't even when new...

You will be able to read it all as soon as the article is published,
I guarrantee you will be delighted over the simplicity of Gregs reworked electronics.

To be honest, I would have changed over to the oil pressure gauge even if the clock worked all the time. I just like having it better than having a clock.

As with almost every change I have made to my car, I have either saved the old parts that were removed, or have spares (I have an extra instument panel in this case). Maybe someday someone will want to take my car back to stock someday.

Unusual I know but I happen to like a clock in my car. Mine stopped working last autumn. I recently had the dash apart to replace the (non working) instrument lighting with LED bulbs (as a side issue why do white LEDs shine blue through a green lens???).
While the dash was in pieces I had a number of trials to get the bulbs working, connecting the battery each time. Lo and behold the clock started working again. Put the whole lot back together and switched on - lights work but the clock has stopped again!
Odd, is there a copyright on the method or is it available to thoses of us who don't belong to the TR8CCA, which I assume is an american organisation?

If it's not broke don't fix it.
