THE BULLET RUN - 17th - 19th June 2016

Postby John_C » 19 Dec 2015 09:31

All the details and booking can be had on the TR Drivers Club web site. Here is the direct link. We know about the '£' character being replaced by an ASCII code on that page but other than that we have all the current information present and correct.

http://www.trdrivers.com/the_bullet_run_2016.html

This looks to be a unique event from a Triumph club and because this time around the Triumph Sports Six Club are promoting it too along with the TR Register it is open to all comers. Space is limited so don't hang around too long. Initially we thought 25 cars but with the interest already it's looking likely we'll have to increase that number to 40.

Saturday night at the hotel is still being planned but looks set to be a major highlight. The recommendation from me is to book two nights at the Ettington Chase - it's a lovely venue and we should all have a great time there together.

I am delighted to inform you that a number of Tony Lee's family will be attending the run (in fact 3 generations!) ... some of the cars already confirmed will make this a unique event so if you can make it ... do so!

Booked to go with the club, but getting through to the hotel to book a room is another matter. Just sitting in a queue with the odd message to tell me that my call is really important to them!

If it's that important then answer the phone! Grrr.

EDIT - after half an hour gave up on the phone method & just booked on line. Bit more expensive but I did note that they are offering a non cancellable rate of £71 for a standard double room at the moment, so less than the TRDC deal rate! Note that breakfast is £10 per person per day extra. Looks a nice place, very much looking forward to this event.

So who else is going?

I noticed that regardless of country Canada/US/UK you can get a cheaper price on line than the "club/event" price these places quote. Sign of the times I guess.

We have spoken with the hotel and apparently if you chose option 2 you will get through to the hotel direct as opposed to a central booking agency. The club rate includes breakfast but also included in the deal is access for the club to the conference facility for our Saturday evening gathering with guest speakers.

When quoting the booking tell them the booking code is : 18867383

Contact number to call is 01789740000

Even if you are not staying at the Hotel but want to join us for the Saturday night gathering please let us know as we will have to submit numbers for the buffet. We are hoping that you join us for this new event and have aspirations to turn the format into an annual event at different locations around the country to try and cater for everyone, so please come along. Booking is via the TR Drivers club website http://www.trdrivers.com/

Bullet Run. the fee a mere £25 includes a road book, rally plate and entry to the Midland Air Museum on the Sunday.

I believe we are being told to select option 2 when going through the hotel's automated phone system. This takes you through to the hotel itself and not the national, off-site bookings call centre.

Anyone, please correct me if I have 'option 2' wrong.

I also think we may be able to email them direct with bookings which could make things easier. I'll report back.

Tony - The £71:00 on-line rate, and the TRDC-Deal, is like comparing chalk with cheese.
Payment up-front, non-cancellation, no breakfast - to name a few!
The TRDC Rate also includes exclusive use of a dedicated Function Room and the equipment, overhead projector etc.

You have to choose option 2 first time, and then option 2 again which gets you straight through. I just spoke to a very efficient lady who confirmed the booking with an e-mail almost before I could put the phone down!

I booked an hour after you, Russ.
Best time is between 7:00am and 6:00pm
If it goes into a 'wait-mode with music' it's because the receptionist is already on the phone! Rather than wait - put the phone down and call them back!

Well I am pleased to hear you both had a better experience with the booking than me. I simply phoned the number on the TRDC website page & had a less than satisfactory experience with PH Hotels booking line!

And Andrew as far as I can see no where on the TRDC webpage does it set out the terms of the club preferential booking. It is indeed better than the discount rate deal I saw online. I wasn't trying to draw a comparison since I didn't know the terms of the club deal until you published them on here, just stating the price. And I did point out that breakfast was extra.

Anyway I hope this little discussion helps others make a quick & easy booking at the right rate!

I think you've illustrated that we need to update the club web page a little Tony. Thanks for that. I'll let Greg know. And I think Andrew managed to get you listed as one of our delegates at the hotel. We'll have to sort one or two other things out with them on the day but I'm sure we'll get it all straightened out in the end.

This is the first time the club has organized this event. Apart from the experience of the Anniversary Run it's all new so there are bound to be a few things to overcome. Andrew has done a good job of getting it this far with a little help from myself and Paul Lewis and the end result will be an upmarket event that others from the club will be able to carry on in future years even if the venues and destinations are changed to keep things varied and interesting.

This is a bold and great initiative by the TRDC - teething problems should be expected - good luck with it Gents
