Portland All British Field Meet

Postby Spectatohead » 11 Aug 2012 04:10

I just paid my registration so I'm going. It'll probably be the only show I make this year. Labor Day Weekend at PIR. I'll be camping for the weekend. http://www.abfm-pdx.com/2012

I'm going to have to skip the ABFM this year after coming down for the Historics and the ATDI. I'll miss you guys, but I plan to be back next year.

Giving this a bump. It is coming up next weekend. I'll be there either Thursday night or Friday setting up camp. 50 years of the MGB is the theme for this year. Not even a mention that it is the Spitfire's 50th also. Raining at the coast right now. I'm not sure what it is doing in Portland but there has been no rainfall in over a month there. Hopefully it'll be nice, and dry, and not quite as hot as last year.

Intellicast forecast for Portland looks like a good weekend. It's up at 3:00am for me, feed the cats, leave at 4:00am get to the ferry gates at 5am (they want you 1.5 hours before leaving to get through customs. Going to try out my new enhanced drivers licence (computer chipped) instead of passport this year. Ferry leaves at 6:30am get to Port Angeles 8:00am. probably roll into PIR around 1:30pm after stop off for cheap American gas and breakfast etc. Won't having any trouble sleeping Friday night.

Last night I talked the Peter Sparke (club member), he is coming down with me with his TR8 he pick up last year in the States. He won't be camping (motel). Looks like the weather should be great.

As he is coming from north of Nanaimo he has to get up about 1:30am. And I thought I had it bad.

Yikes! Yes they are forecasting right around 80F all three days with lows in the low 50s. It should be awesome. I'm going to try to get camp setup Thursday afternoon or evening. Only about a 15 minute drive for me. I'll see you there.

I just got home from the ABFM. I took lots of pictures. Forgot the camera and had to resort to the phone. If they look okay I'll post them. Merv took off a little after noon today headed for Kirkland, Washington before going home. His car just looks better every time I see it. I saw Don briefly, again, Saturday. I don't know why I never really got a chance to talk to him. Now he is moving to the other coast. Sorry about that Don. Only 9 wedges this year but still a great show. I need to stay indoors for a while and let my burned face heal.
