nice job on the wet pics, the cars there look to be of a very nice quality even with the conditions!
-actually it's fumy how you guys (or British car enthusiasts in general) still attend shows when the weather is wet, over here they cancel the events outright when the temps are gloomy.
Could somebody enlighten a relative newcomer please.
When looking at the photos on this thread, and actually whilst I was at Tatton on Saturday, I noticed that some of the TR7/8's are fitted with one-piece front bumpers that don't have the separate end pieces.
Not aftermarket, these were for the American market and are rubberised one-piece, the rear ones have the large over-riders, again one-piece rubber.
This was all part of the proposed legislation in the states that required the bumpers to absorb impact without distortion, I seem to remember 5 mph was the figure the designers used but 3 mph was the actual figure required by the legislation when it appeared.
I have the US spec fitted to the front of my DHC but it doesn't have the harmonic dampener that the 3 piece UK spec bumper has, it doesn't weigh much either though in compensation[:)]

Thanks Dave. Now I understand.
So, where do I find an American spec. front bumper? (Please don't say America).

I would love to get my hands on that Inca Yellow pre-production Speke
built drophead.
I take it this Alain chappy is no longer a member of the TR Drivers club and so this rare car has just vanished.
Such a crying shame.[:(]
Can't we track him down ?
The Pre-production drophead at the show was very original. It still
had fixed head coupe doors that have had their frames cut off and
rivetted to the quarter lights. Also on the bulkhead inside the engine bay screwed in place there was a lot of sound deadening which looked to me to of be done by the factory.
Rare 77 stamped alloys as well, and single bulge bonnet.
Very arty pictures Chris, My Michelle would be impressed.
Thanks to all TR Drivers club members who brought their cars to Tatton for the club stand. The rain kept the numbers down but the display was a credit to the club.
Thanks also to Jim Johnson and Stuart Holmes for organising the TR7/8 display.

Last time I heard from Alain he was talking about taking the car back to France with him so it could still survive. It would seem a few of the pre-production cars escaped from the factory so there could be one or two more out there.

Thanks to all the TR7/8 owners especially the Drivers club members who brought their cars to Tatton for the club stand. This three day Jubilee event was down due the rain mainly but considering the weather the display was a credit to the TR7/8.
Thanks agian to Stuart Holmes for organising the TR7/8 display with my help of course.
See pictures below from the three days
Last picture his Paul Ruddy ex car, which was better than new and attracted many viewers on Monday. This was the best day to finish off this show, unfortuneately the new owner left before prior to the show awards, so stuart will be sending out a trophy shortly. I have also sent out a trophy today to Chris Reynolds car for saturdays awards. Thanks again to all the TR7/8 owners who sent their forms in and hope you will be attending next year show.
Hello all,
I have now found out why the orange 'ex-Ruddy' car wasn't included in the TR7 awards, it actually won 1st place in Best British Sports Car class but we had no reg. no. and details (judge went home early).
The Trophy will now be posted to THE BEST BRITISH SPORTS CAR, ....I think we all knew the TR7 was the best British Sports Car anyway!!!
So congratulations to Graham, the award is on it's way!
Really sorry about the weather for everyone, especially for those who traveled a long distance. I'm sure if one year we get fine weather all weekend we will fill our section easily!
We had 16 entered for Saturday, 27 + 2 late entries for Sunday and 14 including a few lates for Monday.
Lot's were from a long way south where the weather was even worse than here, so understandable they didn't set out (weather/flood warnings in some areas!!)
Despite the weather, the stand on all 3 days was superb with 1 car coming all the way from Belgium, which gave the display an International feel!
Roll on next year, back to 2 days, no bank holiday and hopefully lovely weather!!
Thanks to all for supporting our efforts to promote the TR7/8's and thanks to TR Reg (Red Rose) boys for mowing our grass and to Bob Eccles for bringing the other Coke TR7 all the way up from their HQ!
