im at the stage of fitting a carpet i thought about a kit but looking at them they are just individual peices rather than the original been a single piece.
how many of you guy's have done your own i fancy two tone for my drop head perhaps grey cord for the parcel shelf and boards the same grey on the sills and a nice royal blue on the floor and transmission tunnel as i'm thinking of keeping the original blue vinyl for the seats and door cards etc. but replacing the tartan with grey cord....what do ya all think?

I'd keep the carpet one colour/material. Two tone would make it too bust. IMHO.

The original carpets were not one piece. The current replacements used the original carpets as patterns.

mine were too thats why assumed they all were. unless John meant.....
the sills were seprate fom the tansmission tunnel and floor pans being all one piece as mine were???
i'm going to try it any way i mean carpet is cheap enough to do it again if it looks real bad ill post a pick when iv'e done some......

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.If it 'rocks your boat'
it can't be wrong,can it?! I have seen some bold contrasts
that work and some milder ones that do not.My Auto annoys
some because i got shot of the check seats/panels and replaced
with solid blue.I got Black carpets with blue pipeing with
the blue overmats.Then i did the ultimate sin by adding
walnut funiture (raided Minispares!)and a dash set.
It's not everyones 'cup of tea',but i like it,and thats what
really matters.

I wouldn't have thought it was possible to fit a carpet in one piece and I'm fairly certain Triumph never attempted this even though the original items were moulded into shape. The sills are carpeted with one section, then there are the footwells with a second section, beneath the seats with a third and the transmission tunnel with the fourth section.

If anyone has a TR7 or TR8 with a different arrangement to this and can confirm it is an original factory fitted item I stand corrected. I'd also like to see it as I've only ever seen cars with the carpets I've described above.

As I've mentioned previously, Revington TR may still have some of the original moulded carpets in stock.

Your right John, about it being hard to fit a one piece carpet, in a
7. A company in Oz supplies a one piece, molded carpet, for the 7.

I used my spares car, with no interior, to test fit the one I got. I
found it was a little narrow, but that was not important.

To fit a one piece carpet, you would have to remove the heater ,
which means, the dash as well. As I could not face that, I split it
up the center, & shoved it in.

The big advantage is that I only required 4 pieces of self adhesive
Velcro, & the foot rest, & no glue, to hold it in place.

Jim Johnson has just given me a set of original moulded carpets for an early FHC and there are many pieces as John describes. I have in the past seen the one piece moulded carpet that is fitted between the sills on a DHC.

The very early FHC's indeed had a carpet made up of several pieces

The early coupe had carpets of several pieces, the later coupes had one main carpet piece with the sills being separate, not sure about the Drop heads though!

My Spider has the "one piece carpet", not counting the sill pieces and pieces going up the b posts. To remove it you have to take out the seats and centre cowl, transmission counsel parts and lever it up from the rear to get it over the gear shift. Could not imagine trying to do it in a coupe.

Well here we go here is one side done in the two tone i actually like it it kind of matches the grey on the dash it'll look a lot better when i do the parcel shelf and boards to match..............
the seats ar'nt going to stay like this they are just some cheap covers to put on the tatty existing ones untill i can get them done......
