Scuttle cover and Air filter box original paint type?

Could anyone tell me the original paint type of the scuttle cover and air filter box that the cars left the factory with.

Would they both have been satin black?

Is a satin finish as durable as a gloss finish?

I bought my DHC back in '86. They definitely weren't gloss black but between Matt and satin. There were 5 previous owners on the V5 but they looked untouched.

I bought a N.O.S. air filter box, in its BL cardboard box, from Rimmers and it was gloss battleship grey!
