What's yours called?

Postby Deanflyer » 22 Aug 2015 14:21

I've been browsing a few car forums on the net recently, and a large proportion of TR7 owners seem to name their cars...I've seen TRixie, TRickett TRevor, TRouble and several other names mentioned with TR in them, as well as those without. How many people here have named their car, and what's the story behind it, if you don't mind my asking?

Despite owning most of my cars for 20 years or so I have never named them and have just called them by their make/model.

The V8 is Oliver. He has a perceived drink problem.
My first was Maxwell. I borrowed from the pension pot to buy it.

My very original DHC is called Rosie, short for Rosalita, which is in turn short for Rosa2Litre - the Bruce Springsteen classic (Rosalita that is, not Rosa2Litre) because I knew that a friend would like that connection.

Our very modified TR7V8 goes by the name of Bruce, aka The Boss, which keeps the theme going nicely of course!

When I had 3 of 7s they were the red 7, [orange of course], & the blue & light blur 7s.

Now they are the 7, the 8, the Honda & the Capri. I have never named anything, even the yacht I lived on for over 10 years.

Mine is called "BOB"

Why ?

Because the previous owner called him that, as when i received a binder will all the receipts in it

on the spine of the folder it has the word BOB.

So i kept it.
If it's not broke don't fix it.

Bought my ACN coupe from a friend in Texas. Found out it was Woody's first TR8. The previous owner named all their cars, I never have through the 7 TR8s that I have owned. He called the car Woody until one day his wife was going for her first drive and bumped her head getting into the car. She exclaimed 'Bad Woody", so when I got the car the car was named Bad Woody. This kind of got me going, having imported the car from Texas to Canada I had visions of Bad Woody that I couldn't shake, so I decided to nerd out and follow the thoughts.

Here is the binder I got with the car.

Here is my interpretation...

Mine is call The Black B#tch.

That was actually the name the color guard gave themselves in a drum corp I marched with years ago (they wore that name with pride), and for some reason it fits with my car.
