Headlights won't raise

Postby jclay (RIP 2018) » 31 Jan 2014 14:31

A friend of mine has cancer and needs some help with his head lights. They will not come up when turned on. If I remember correctly, this is usually caused by a dirty headlight switch on the dash. Is this correct? I have never had this problem but once. That was due to a cracked housing holding the switch in place.

Thanks in advance for any comments!

Clay

Try unplugging the connectors inside the engine bay close to the headlights. Just unplug and replug usually does it.

Aerosol contact cleaner and a going over with an old toothbrush did it for me. But that was one headlight that wouldn't come up. With both lights not coming up, it means both connectors have gone down at the same time, which is less likely. Switch could be a good call.

Good luck

And depending on model year give the earth points behind the headlights a good clean

Clay if it's both lights that wont lift I would start with giving the switch a wiggle first then a really good clean up.
It is always worth doing the earths and red plugs as well though.

Cheers

Since it is both lamps I would vote for the switch.
