TR7s+ Practical Classics??

my daughter and I were flipping through a Practical Classics magazine when she asked did they ever feature the TR7|? Searching the data base for our list I see no stories connected to practical classics+TR7 or am I missing something? While I am sure there are many classic car restorations, practical classics makes it across the pond to the back of beyond in Northern Canada. Got any references to back issues I might particular enjoy.

Hi,

If you mean the UK based mag then 'our' cars get featured from time to time including back in 88 when they restored one, there was a booklet published at the time of which I have a original copy, after collecting the magazines at the time not knowing they were going to do the book [:o)] -



Recently TRDC member John Whybrow had his car featured in there buyers guide ( May 2013 )

I seem to recall, maybe in the late nineties, one of the magazines had an editor with a triton dhc and he fitted the Rimmers V8 conversion to it, it might not have been Practical classics but a competitor.

I think it was Peter Simpson, or possibly John Simpson, the car had a local plate for us, sure it was TEC.

I have never seen their briefing books series. I will have to dig out an old magazine and check out how to order one.

That monograph looks exactly like the kind of thing I was looking for.

It was John Pearson who built the car in Practical Classics. It was Triton green and John was a member of the TR Drivers club.

Its not a particularly good booklet but has some interesting bits.
If you want something more detailed have a look at Roger Williams book "How to Restore Triumph TR7 & 8" published by Veloce. Very detailed for all aspects including bodywork, mechanics and trim.

my cars been on the readers rides in practical classics, i have been buying older issues and in the early 80s they actually ran a tr7 as a magazine car, plus I just bought another early 80s issue that advertised the tr drivers clubs first event............[:D]

Have a look at pages 11 & 12 of the briefing where it tells about Peter Simpson getting the TR7 as his staff car.
