TR 7 CENSUS?

Postby RobPue » 19 Mar 2013 01:50

I wonder if there is any possible way to find out how many TR7s are still registered and on the road in the US today. Any ideas how this info could be obtained?

Try asking TWOA - they might have a ball park figure...

If I was to take a guess ,

there's probably as many (if not more) sitting in sheds, fields and storage's scattered across the land than there are registered on the road!

Of the 112000 or so made , I'd highly doubt there's more than 20,000 of so in the "world" that would be in running, driving condition .....

Last figures I saw for the UK at the TR Register showed less than 1,700 [:0] TR7's / TR7V8's and TR8's registered as off road (SORN) or on road (Taxed) in the UK.
There were many more registered off road than taxed for running on road.

Not surprisingly TR6s have done significantly better at just over 4,000 registered as on or off road in the UK.

Interesting site is this - although there is a question over the accuracy of the figures http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk

Our cars could well be the rarest of the TR's soon!

We in the UK have this website as Wayne said.
http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=%E2% ... RIUMPH+TR7

Amazingly during the wettest summers in 2012 - more TR7 DHC were licenced on the road [:D]

Just over 735 UK DHC out of 5518 - 13%
331 UK FHC out of 21278 - 1.5 %

Anecdotal but last year at Van Dusen ABFM there were two TR7's out of over 600 cars (maybe six TR8's), and year before last at Portland ABFM there were about 23 TR7/8's (about 5 of which were TR7's) of about 600+ cars. The sevens are among the rarest of cars at shows (considering the numbers made). On the other hand in a club of over a hundred members the number of TR7/8's has gone from 0 in 2005 to over 8 TR7's and 3 or 4 TR8's in 2013 a significant increase. Other chapters of the club are about the same proportion so a few more are getting back on the road.[8D]

Pitty the poor MGB owner who spends all the time polishing his car only to have the people's eye's glaze over when seeing a line of thirty or more MGB's lined up in a row, all that work gone to waste.[:(]
