It's going to come appart

Postby dycecooper » 05 Mar 2013 16:41

I have advertised my TR7V8 several times on EBay with no bidders, I have had silly offers but I'm not giving it away.I paid £2500 for it and it was unused in a shed since the 80s, I have sent more on it than it cost to buy.

I have a donor car for spares so it looks like the Bilstiens, Hi-Spec 4 pots, alloys will be coming off, I will still have a complete car of lower spec For Sale, its a real shame to do it but the TR7 market is nuts.

Added since purchase

15" Minilight style wheels/ tyres
TR8 Radiator
Kenlowe two speed fan
Electronic distributor
Starter
Holley /manifold
Exhaust back box (stainless)
Rear bottom arms with poly bushes
Fuel tank & sender unit
Drivers seat
Complete wiring loom
Electric power stealing
Braided brake hoses
Hi-Spec big discs & billet 4 pot calliper s
TR8 decals
Mohair hood
Stereo
Windscreen
Alternator & bracket
Big battery and re located to the boot

There is probably more that I have forgotten.

I did not put it in sales because I have not started yet , it was more of a topic on how sad the value put on these fantastic under rated cars

What kind of bilsteins are they? Front rear? Coilovers? How old are in inserts!

Certainly agree with you there, even really good and/or rare examples do not fetch a lot when compared to some other makes. I think most of us at some time will have had a TR7 in which we have invested quite a lot of time & money, you will not get that back in monetary terms so enjoy the car & get your moneys worth that way!

So right Tony. Unless you are going to keep the car long term it makes no sense to spend money on it. Unfortunately sometimes circumstances change for us. The TR7 crowd is not alone, there are other examples out there were prices do not reflect the value of the car because of some preconceived or easily fixed impressions/problems.

The thing is I like the car and I have spent a lo of money on it, the rd paint is faded although it polishes up it would look better painted, its going to cost upwards of £1000 probably nearer £2000 but the value will not really change,

The Bilstiens are Works Forest, the struts are adjustable platform, I was going to be changing them for something softer a while back and had an offer for them so will give the guy first shout for them when I start stripping it.
