Heated rear window switch

Have been trying to get everything electrical to work on my car. This blog article http://tr7beans.blogspot.co.uk/2009/10/ ... ntion.html by Beans shows pictures of the master light switch and the fog light switch. Has anybody got a picture of how the heated rear window switch should look. This is mine.

Also looking at the wiring diagram there should there be a heated rear window warning light. Where is this located on the car. The switch has a hole in it that would allow a light to be inserted from behind. There is no obvious spare wiring for such a light visible at present as I have yet to take the top off the dashboard.

Hi,

IIRC, from the introduction of the 7 convertible, UK DHC's and FHC's share the same loom. On my DHC the white connector block (complete with tiny warning light bulb) for the vacant heated rear window switch sat directly behind the switch panel whilst the white / black wire from it ran towards the rear of the car to the vacant heated screen.

On my Canley DHC, the hazard switch (single stage) and fog light switch (double stage) are both illuminated by the tiny bulbs in their respective connector blocks. The headlight switch isn't. I've used another fog light switch fitted to the once spare connector block to run an accessory.

Has a previous owner fitted a different switch in place of your hazard switch and removed the bulb from your fog switch? I thought the Solihull switches looked slightly different but were basically the same.

<font color="green">Busheytrader may well be right about the rationalisation of the electrics later. Ceratinly in the early cars they were different to the later ones (My '76 car was v. different to the '80 one I have now. I think, but am not certain without checking, that the HRW warning lamp in the '80 car is in the instrument panel rather than the switch and is purple in colour. I do recall that in the early car there were switch blanks as shown in your picture and they could be cut out to fit switches for fog and rear fog (separate switches at the time but one swithc for both in the later car) and that the names were already shown on the lightng panel and could be made visible by cutting out the plastic in front. Can't tell you what the insides of the switch look like without going and taking it all apart but since this all seems to depend on the date of you car we need that sort of info and then you need to find someone with a car of the same vintage to really help you.</font id="green">
