headlight flash question

Good day all,

i have been looking at how the headlamp flash can be redirected to the Aux\drving lamps only if the pods are not raised, i have got this far on paper, can anyone verify if this will work?

Yes the way you drew it up should work. When the main beams are down, the fog/driving lamps will flash, otherwise the main beams will flash.

The only issue I see is that it will take 4 relays to implement this, how often do you do it? At least it doesn't seem like it should impact the reliability of the normal headlights switch.

Hi Tom,

i suppose the (default) main issue is that the 'Flash' occurs before the headlight pods actually raise, it should save the the flash stalk switch contacts as well. Although i have used 5 relays, i recently purchased an Arduino kit..pushed into it my a work colleague, and looking at if power MOSFETS can used instead, still on a steep learning curve though.

Wow an Arduino would do it indeed but it's quite a bit of overkill.... the switches are in the +12 V line so you can't use N channel FETs with the source grounded (the only way the Arduino can directly control the FETs). You'll need N channel FETs with a high side driver or really big P channel FETs. Either way a relay would probably end up being easier.

overkill...of course...but as i am not a programmer or electronics whizzy....my goal would push me to learn.
The chap who nudged me to buy it has set up a laser tracking face recognition robot...why!!!!!??????.... i do not know....i guess because he could...he spent around 80 pounds.for fun
I don't understand why he thought that would be a cool idea!
I suggested he make it portable , program it to recognise rats and attach it to his cat..that i can understand

i also want to use it to control the rad fan on my Scimitar and TR.
But the Scimitar will be my test bed for the Arduino plus just bought temp sensor and 20x4 LCD....let the games begin!!
