Door Mirror Refurbushment

If you are looking at freshening up your door mirrors - this paint was good & if required the mirror glass are available at the moment.

Just done mine for a few quid plus cracked one mirror taking off the plastic retainer ( use a flat knife not a screw driver to prise it out ! ) so fitted the below replacement which came with the plastic retainer, mirror & backing foams. The mirror fits either LH & RH.

Paint was very good & dried very quickly between coats.
Off in the afternoon & fitted back this morning.
Far cheaper than the not quite the same replacement TEX mirrors which have the wrong dog leg fitting.

Paint £ 4.62 free postage & came next day for some reason.

But do remember! The modern day Tex version have a vastly improved mirror head - that fits right on the old type stem/leg.
For instance the 'friction' in the ball joint are regulated from the outside... So if you want to build the ultimate Wedge
mirror version you buy the Tex (in flat or convex anti dazzle) and combine with your original door mirror(s).

Fitted the convex glasses to the DHC's mirrors recently,
and it is a vast improvement over the originals with a far wider field of view [:)]

Not that I use my rear view mirrors that much [}:)]

I totally agree - fitting Convex mirrors was the best single improvement I made to the car to make it safer to drive in modern traffic.

Totally agree with the convex conversion. Night and day difference. Worth every penny I spent. I went with original mirrors that I had to strip and paint and they came out awesome looking. I've also got a set of the Tex mirrors and will do Odd's conversion some day.

So did Odd add the Tex stuff to the OEM or did he add the OEM to the Tex mirror

Can't answer for Odd, but I fitted aftermarket convex glasses to the original mirror housings.
They are a straight swap, and fitted in a few minutes.
