Need sugestions on what to ask orig. owner

Postby cartoon6pk » 29 Jun 2012 13:35

Hi everyone,
I got my TR7 from the origional owner, that's not in the best of health. He knows everything about the car. The car has a lot of history and was used in one of the orgional adds from Triumph.
I would like some suggestions on what questions, I should ask him about it.
I don't want to call him to often.
Thank you
Sheldon

I would ask him if he has any paper work he may have saved that he wouldn't mind handing over to go with the car. Things like work done etc.

When I bought my car I had bill of sale from original owner to second owner, original dealer window sticker, personalized (vanity) plates from second owner (was supposed to turn them in but they didn't ask for them when I got travel slip). When I met with second owner (1985-2006), I asked her if she had any issues with car and it only had one (loss of drive on highway but didn't know what caused it, just hot it fixed).

Good to know past mechanical history of car and any documents the owner might throw out otherwise.

Well, for starters, you may politely inquire if he intends to haunt the car when he's gone. No, never mind that, all TR7's came with their own built in souls. There's no room in the car for another ghost. One to a customer, only.

How about any left over parts out there in the garage gathering dust on the shelves?

Ask if the car improved his personal social life any, that's always interesting to know.

Find out about his sales experience at the Triumph dealership and how the service department treated him.
