So I spoke with the sheriffs office and the real estate property in question was seized by the DA's office in 2009. 1256 marijuana plants were found on 2 of the owners properties, this being one. I spoke with the assistant DA and he is going to find out if the car was seized also and give me a call back. If the car was seized then I have to wait till the trial is over (been long enough already don't you think) and the car gets towed to the county lot where it will be auctioned. That should bode well for me unless I can't attend.
If the car hasn't been seized as part of the drug bust then I can contact the owner and make him an offer. I have a friend doing a title search for me to find out who the actual owner is, just in case it doesn't belong to the guy in question.
Also worth noting. When I stopped by this weekend to get the vin# I noticed that the right front fender was quite smashed in and I couldn't get the passengers door open either. It shouldn't be a car that draws much interest if it does go to auction. Car hasn't been registered or inspected since 1995. I think I'll go throw a cheap tarp over it this weekend.
Sorry but if I do get this car I will most likely strip it to the bare bones. I need new inner flitch panels, door hinge, driveshaft, etc...for my car. And you can never have too many spares!
