Fun Weekend

Postby V8Wedgehead » 10 Jun 2011 01:09

I had an outing and took pictures of the TR8s I hung with this last weekend for a British Car Show in Frederick, Maryland. I helped coordinate some of the activities and as usual had to get greasy for a few hours.

The cars ran between 12.2 to 14.2 in the 1/4 mile.

We had one TR7, MGB-GT with a 5.0 Rover V8 and the rest all TR8s. The show had a total of 15 wedges in the show field and at least one TR8 in the parking lot.

Hi Michael,

Great looking cars even the imposter ( MGB ) is forgivn for being there due to it 5 litre V8 !

We would struggle over here to get that many 'real' TR8's in one place i am sorry to say [:(]

Must have sounded like rolling thunder as you drove down the road [8D]

Cheers John

Hey Michael!

What a bunch of great looking car!

Is it possible to attach names to the photos of people? It would be great if we could know what our friends look like!

That looked like fun!!

It's interesting to see that in the land of the true TR8, none of them appear to be wearing their original alloys.

I don't think that would happen this side of the pond with the few genuine 8's over here.

About 4 of the TR8s had the stock alloys and thats about it. Its just a trend over here. I try to get all the stock alloys to hide in my garage but no one even the guys with big rims want to get rid of them?

Thanks for the photos. Wish I could have made it.

As for rims. IMHO, it was stupid to continue with a 13" rim and tire combo when the V8 was fitted. But I guess they were on a budget then as seemed to be the case most times with MG & Triumph. Actually I am seriously considering another upgrade to 15" Just not much available in sticky 14" tires.[:(]

I have to agree with my learned friend Adam, very rare to see a 'Real' TR8 that is not 100% original in fact the i can only think of one of the top of my head that has MG wheels on it.

Years ago there was a rumour that someone was considering have moulds made for 14 inch standard wheels made, IMHO shame this never happened [:(]

Cheers John
