Walthon Abbey Today

Postby john 215 » 17 Apr 2011 20:31

Hi,

Took a drive down to TR Register inter group meeting today. Great day out with a hundred plus cars there, but only 2 [:0] 7s and 2 real TR8's. When was the last time you went to a show when 2, 3 ,4 and 5's all out numbered you [:0]

A really intresting place to visit, excellent guided tours and never realised al the rocket development that was carried out down there, recomend a visit to anyone

John,
Did you speak to the new owner of PVC568W? Nice to see it being used again, it's always been my favourite TR8. [:)]

I was in the North Kent area of the TRDC in the late 80's/early 90's. It's original owner was a lovely bloke called John Ford, who was a member of our area. It was the first proper TR8 I'd seen & I've always really liked it. Sadly, John died & the car went to a private collection. Nice to see it being used again.

Zoe, Yes you shud! we missed you!

John, I too thought yesterday was brilliant. I can't claim all of the glory, but thanks to all who came and made the day a real success.

Thanks for posting the pictures of my car (the greens one[:D]) make it look quite smart - I will have to try harder next time!

I spoke for some time to the owner of the silver car, It now lives in North London. The owner is a real enthusiast who has owned other wedges. I think we will see this at other events during the year.

good to meet up with you and your daughter again.

Cheers Ian

Hi John,

Nice pics there. PVC568W makes an appearance in many TR7/8 books.

That V8 TR6 has appeared at The Ace a few times. The V8 gets in the way of the steering column big time and there's several U/J's as it finds its way to the rack. IIRC part of it actually goes inbetween the tubes of the manifold.
