argghh crap

a bird s**t on my car yesterday didn't spot it till this morning wipe off with damp cloth, left a mark, then ferecla, still marked, then hand glaze, then polish but i can still see a mark where it lay. any ideas [:(]

Only thing I could sugest is a light sanding with 1500 and buffing. Does it have clear coat? That stuff is nasty. Must be the acid in it.

Is the paint original? If so the TPA paint isn't very chemical resistant. I would take a power buffer and some polishing compund (I use Turtle Wax stuff) and try and polish it out. I had some stains from Metalready when I was using it on battery tray and it got on fender (wing). Took it out but be careful. The paint on my passenger door was worn down to primer on the swage line from polishing by PO.

God knows what the birds eat by me but their shit is like acid. My Black Audi has at least 6 marks that have completely ruined the paint, one bird attack on the bonnet even pitted the paint because it was on for a few days.

My last Black Vectra however was untouchable. Must have been stronger paint.

use something quite aggressive but not "T" cut orribble stuff
something like autoglym's paint renovater followed by autoglym's super resin polish or if its not so bad just use the super resin either way it will takesome elbow grease, but make sure you use a wax afterwards
if all else fails then as said before wet "n" dry and buff

It's always acidic and if it's not removed quickly will very often scar the paintwork. I had a slug crawl up on the car and die a few years back. This permanently damaged the paint where it finished up but a serious cut back with rubbing compound, then T-Cut followed by plenty of Autoglym polish with a lot of elbow grease made it practically invisible.

Try 3M Fine Compound to remove the mark then Imperial Hand Glaze to finish. I have found this to work very well on small marks as long as the paint is in good condition.

Exercise a bit of caution before using any cutting compounds. Your paint is surprisingly delicate. Test on an old car first.
