If you got caught with that in you're over here you'd be arrested for carrying an offensive weapon! The Swedish police must be more forgiving.

It's OK as long as it's carried (out of sight) in the luggage compartment. Quite common in rural Sweden...

Over here in the US the best equivalent to the AA, RAC etc... would be a AAA card. They have varying levels of membership, mine has 100 miles of free towing to anywhere I want. Travels with me, not the car so can be used with anycar that I am with across the nation. There is no official limit on tows but after four or five they reportedly start asking questions. The yearly cost of membership is equal to about a single tow across town.

I do carry a small selection of tools, a few flashlights (hand torches), some with flashing light set ups, a tow rope, road flares and a first aid kit. I've actually had occasion to use all of those items, helping other people but not on my own car.

There's nothing so emasculating as watching your car being towed especially when all it needed was a pair of pliers & some fencing wire to get you home. [8D][}:)]

I got towed today so there's some instant karma. Unnecessarily as it turns out but it was raining so hard I accepted the tow to somewhere a bit drier to fix it.
