Andy, I think we're talking different tomatoes here;
The European luggage rack (still available I think) is a loose contraption with 'straps' and rubberised
feet that you temporarily fit onto the boot lid (had one on my Spitfire - I know the four dimples made
by the feet are still there...). A p.o.s. I'd say. [Sounds like the bag mentioned is a soft variant of this
- without the dimpling feet, but still with the upwards bending straps.]
The American luggage rack is a US sourced (and since long only available in e-bay and such places
usually 100+ dollars or so for a good second hand one) and permanently affixed contraption without
any extra fastening straps and such. But, since it's a permanent fit you get eight tiny holes in the boot
lid <u>under</u> the four (let's call it) 'feet'.
It never ends to amuse me: Two markets - divided by a common language... [:D]
