Gear lever retainer

Postby Rich K » 05 Sep 2024 19:56

Hi, just found that the gear lever retainer on the gold convertible has suffered the well known problem of the tab at the rear breaking off. I don’t have a spare so made a repair piece with reinforcing webs and welded it in place. Hopefully will be stronger than the original design.

Looks a good solution, personally I would've brazed it, but the tack welds should do well enough

Thanks Cobber. I agree that brazing might be better but I only have Mig welding kit and haven’t tried to braze anything for decades. The welds seem to have taken ok.

The guys in the USA have produced an uprated 3D printed one that looks the business. Apparently been extensively tested and a good upgrade.

I have one and can confirm it looks good, but for various reasons haven't got around to installing it yet
Cheers
