Wipers wont always shut off

Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

What do you mean with don't "shut off"?
• do they stop immediately and not return to park position;
• or do they keep moving.

p.s. better to delete the other post and add the info here, much tidier and easier to give advice.

At the motor end of the wiper rack is a copper hook that activates the parking switch. If the position of the switch is wrong (it's adjustable) it won't shut off. It can be adjusted by freeing the motor to access the screw that fixes the switch position. Trial and error. Try a little one way if that doesn't work try a little the other way. If the copper hook is cracked/broken, it also won't shut off. I had cracked mine when I had the rack out to clean and grease it. Soldering didn't work when I used it on first rain. I had to resolder using a small copper strap as reinforcement. If switch is dirty/corroded I suspect you'd get the same result.

When my wipers failed to shut off I had to disconnect the connector block under the steering column when the rain stopped. I was 100 miles from home on a club run to see the restoration of a Spitfire (the airplane) and on the way to the hosting chapters pig roast. Fortunately the rain had stopped on the run home.

When I soldered the reinforcement I found out about having to adjust switch. It's been fine ever since.
