Air Dam TR7

Recently two air dams have shown up on Ebay. One went for U$95 and the othe for 61. My car does not have one. The cross piece that the dam mounts to is damaged but not to the extent that the plastic air dam would not fit. Question. What are the pros and cons of reinstalling this part on my car? I have mixed fellings about it. The car does not look bad without it.

It would scoop more air into the rad so cooling would be better at speed. All later cars had them. I think it's a plus unless your going for originality.

I have a '79 car. Did they come with air dams? Cooling is no problem for me. No matter how high the OAT gets the coolant stays in the normal range. The only reason I would put the dam on is because the metal cross piece is damaged and I think it would be cheaper to cover it as opposed to fixing it.

Canley built USA cars had them but it's possible a few early 79's might not have.

mmm, i have 4 original plates here for the air dam. But the plates are really old, ugly and some broken. Im made copy`s of them in a new plastic plate. My car which is a Speke build ACG2700L has them, so i decided to put the new ones back on. I think it is also an nice dam to get rid of dirt, etc. flying into the engine department.
Second, the left plate hase two holes in it where the two air-intake hoses are attached to, so it fits nice and clean.

if anyone need dimensions of the plates, i can make a drawing. The original plates where some kind of paper/hardboard stuff, i decided to take some plastic plate.

My original post was regarding the big plastic part that fits under the bumper and under the radiator. Spoiler, dam, cover? I looked in the Rimmer catalog and I could not figure out the offical name.

ah, then i understand it wrong. [:D] I do know of a plastic underspoiler but not of any plastic seperate parts besides that.
