TR7 New Door Seals

Postby UKPhilTR7 » 26 Dec 2018 21:16

I have seen these twice on ebay, but they have very limited pictures.

Has anyone brought a set of these or have any more pictures as they sound good for £20:

You can see the ends in the picture so it looks like just a coil of generic seal you will have to cut and join yourself. Its very cheap so I wouldn't expect too much.

I actually went in the deep end and bought a set from Tony Zorzo for my FHC. They come all the way from Australia and fit beautifully but were quite expensive after shiping and customs duty.

We fitted similar looking generic seals when we restored the blue dhc, however the doors would not shut cleanly as the part of the moulding that is squashed between the door and body was in a slightly different position to the originals. This resulted in the moulding squishing upwards and forming an obstruction which pushed the door outwards. For £20 it might be worth taking a chance on these though.

It looks like you should've got a set of seals while you were still here in Oz.

I got a set of those from Greg Tunstall in Brisbane.

Yes they fit perfectly.

I expect to have enough money to buy food again by next month.

Oh yes I got a set from Tony when I was there, went to his house and picked them up. A nice few hours trip on the train out of Sydney for me and the family. They fit perfect and I am glad that I got them. These do not look any way as good as the ones from Tony, but I just wondered as this is the first time I have seen something like this on ebay (apart from the set from Tony :D )
