raise gear ratio

Postby lyledtaylor@gmail.com » 03 Jun 2014 03:50

Hi I recently requested info re raising diff ratio from 3.9 to3.45 to give my car longer legs on the highway and thanks to everyone I found the info very helpful.I left the diff ratio at 3.9. I am now considering changing the fifth gear ratio from 0.83 to 0.77 am wondering if anyone can tell me how many rpm I might reduce at 60mph (100kph). The wheels are standard 13 inch engine standard 2 litre.

Regards Lyle.

Hi,

Loads of RPM / Speed convertors out there like this

Don't forget only a comparison don't mean you achieve these speeds !!

Cheers John

personally I still think changing rear diff ratios is easier and a much better bang for the buck than going inside the trans ......

Thanks Ron at this stage I've decided to raise the diff ratio to 3.45. I presume you are either running a 3.45 or have changed one at some time.Anyway thank you for your advice.
Kind regards Lyle.
