Western Wheel Question

Postby Limey7 » 05 Aug 2013 00:36

Hi,
My TR7 has been off the road for a couple of years.....but the good news is the bug has bitten me and I'm back on the road. A new battery, some fresh gas, and a state inspection sticker and I'm back.

So now I'm looking at a used set of Western mag wheels. The seller claims they came off a Spitfire. 13x5.5. Will these work on a TR7. Is the offset and stud pattern different from a Spit to a 7? Also no lug nuts are included. Which ones would I need?
Any input appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

PCD is the same as Spitfire but I believe the ET to be different.
Also the studs (and thus the wheel's stud holes) on a Spitfire are slightly smaller.

That's true. I don't know off hand if the Spitfire wheels are hub centric or not. Because the wheel lugs are smaller in diameter you may have to get the holes drilled out larger, not something you would do with a drill because they would have to be exact so would need proper equipment to get it done right. If they are not hub centric you would have to get lug nuts with tapered ends so it is centered by the lug nuts which is why the holes would have to be exact.

Yes the Bolt on Spitfire are smaller I quess 3/8" UNF studs, TR7 uses M12 and Spitfire wheels are bolt centric TR7 Hub centric

Thanks guys.....I'm going to pass on them. Looks like some fresh paint on the steel wheels is in order!
