Postby fencible39 » 08 Oct 2012 21:00

Does anyone know what year they were introduced? Was it 1978?

Well as with all things BL the dates may be a bit fluid, but officially they door lamps replaced the roof lamp from chassis number ACG25001, which was June 77.

Interesting. I always thought the door lights were introduced with the DHC.

I thought they were introduced when the tasteful range of check / tartan interiors appeared.......[:)]

That's one of those pieces I wish there was a modern upgrade for. I've got the chrome ones. I've seen some that are just stationary lights that look similar. I took mine out and did the fix that someone here mentioned, using the ends of zip-ties to reinforce the tabs.

That would be me. I believe they are available now in black rather than chrome. They are also available as none movable versions. The only thing bad about the movable version is that un daylight it is possible to bump them so they are on without noticing and draining battery over longer period.

Here's what Randy is referring to.

Thanks FI! I thought it was you but didn't want to credit the wrong person. Very good tip too!
