Sticky throttle

Postby HowardB » 02 Dec 2011 21:24

I am having a problem with the throttle "sticking" at the start of its travel and have run out of ideas about the cause so am looking for suggestions.

Symptoms are when the engine is cold its the throttle light and moves easily but after a few minutes when the engine warms up it starts to stick (only in the closed position)which leads to a jerky ride.

I replaced the carbs and the cable plus greased the pedal but the problem is still there. Any suggestion?

Thanks

Did you check the carburettor linkage?
I had the same problem with my DHC before I restored it

In my case it was caused by excessive play in the original linkage between cable and carburettors.
I solved it with a pair of (worn out [:I]) balljoints from the Webers from ‘t Kreng ...

No problems since, with a very smooth throttle respons [:)]
