Calling All Pacific Northwest TR7's (and TR8's)

Postby FI Spyder » 26 Aug 2011 16:31

With Portland ABFM just a week away, I'm the only TR7 registered out of 522 cars registered. (Only 8 TR8's). There's always the last minute entries and drive up's depending on weather and itineraries. (They are estimating over 800 entries.) After finally receiving our own classification it would bee embarrassing if I was the only one to show up. Ron and Cale are busy reno'ing their house getting ready for sale and Bill is busy with work and won't know till last minute if they can make it. I can't imagine trying to ecplain how I won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize in the same year.[:p]

After 20+ wedges last year to get our two categories we need more wedges.

Gee, you sound just like me plugging the ATDI weeks ago (We wound up with 2 7's and 3 8's in Cle Elum). It's role-reversal time: After doing the Bellevue ABFM and the ATDI, I can't do Portland.

I'm going to be in the back country in Montana that weekend, so I won't be there. I've been wanting to get to Portland all year, but haven't made it yet.

My house has been under reno for a year. Just had my first electrical inspection for downstairs/garage with epoxy paint to go on garage floor and utility room. Still have to do all the flooring (bamboo floors, vinyl click tile), paint walls and ceilings, finish fireplace, etc. etc. but went to California anyway and add Portland. I've got another year ahead of me.

You only live once, time lost can never be gotten back. Sometimes you have to live for today.....OK, I've run out of homilies. [:)]

Hey, I'll be there. I've been out at our fixer upper in Ocean Shores for almost a week. Going home Wednesday and will hopefully finish up the top on the 8 and be at PIR camping starting either Thursday or Friday night.

Sorry folks, but I think you have a few priorities mixed up here.

At over 70, & after 3 heart attacks, a little of my property is looking just a bit rough in spots, & I don't really care. If you really try, you can develop selective blindness & no longer see those eaves at the side of the house.

I decided from now on I would only do the things I wanted to do, not the things someone else thought I aught to do. You know, those eaves that could use a coat of paint will still be there in a few years, but this year might be the last I can drive 500 miles to a car club event.

However if you are one of those who's eyes are drawn to those eves, every time you walk past, well, club events can be boring, so get out the paint brush.

We all have a bus or a disease somewhere with our name on it, so make sure you do those things you want to do, rather aught to do, while you can.

I wish I could develop selective blindness sometimes. I don't think my wife would allow it. As it is she sees things that "need" to be done even though I didn't.

Jim, that's the problem. My wife has better vision than me.

Even though the home "chores" come due right now, my wife is generally supportive. She calls the 7 our "vacation car". In October we'll be celebrating our 30th anniversary by driving our 30th Anniversary Edition down the coast to Carmel and Big Sur.

Did that in June. A trip everybody should do in a wedge at least once in their lives.

Weather for Portland ABFM is looking to be superb.

If you guys would help me solve this noise in my engine, I make the trip. But as yet, it worries me enough that I do not have the confidence to get 150 miles away from my shop and tools. Maybe next year. Anyway, I'm in Indiana at the moment caring for my 90 year old mother (how's that for a bullet proof excuse.)
