Core plugs

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font size="2"><font color="blue">Anybody have any tips on changing the core plugs? My engine is out, on an engine stand and now seems like the best time to change them and clean out the guts of the engine. All suggestions greatly appreciated.

When i changed mine Mac,

I used a small punch and gently tapped the core plug around its edge, slowly it will start to dip into the engine on one side.

You will then need a scredriver or something similar to prise the plug out. When putting the new plugs in make sure the engine surface is clean then smear a small bit of non setting gasket around the new plug, (this just helps the plug slide into place).

Sit the plug squarley on the engine and i used a 1/2 inch socket for the next bit and gently tapped the plug into the engine ensuring that it stays square.

Whack em in the middle with a screwdriver or punch and lever em out.

Make sure you clean the mating surfaces when putting in the new ones.

I used a big socket to help tap the new ones in place.
