I was thinking of just going to the ATDI this year, but decided I had to go to the races, too. So I'll be at the ABFM after Tacoma and before we leave for the VTR Nationals. Looks like we've got several Wedges registered already. Hope there will be more. The on-line registration process was much easier this year; my car photo showed up on the web site immediately.

Looks like Ron and I will be there, not making ATDI this year as hoped. Hopefully we can get Bill's Sprint DHC there but he still has a persistent oil leak they are chasing. Maybe we'll talk him into coming as a passenger so he can "get the bug".

I was thinking of skipping this year but I will be going.
I like the swap meet and the racing.
If Bill can't get his car fixed he is welcomed to ride shotgun, we had a great time on the Triumph Boys Run.

I registered today, looks like there are 10 wedges registered so far. I know of two more to come so it could be a very good showing of wedges. I believe the record is 23 lets hope we do that or better.

Got registered today, picture on the website. Hopefully the weather will be good. Rain has come up from the States today. Really need it as we haven't had any this summer to speak of. They are going to have to truck the salmon up the Cowichan River to spawn like they did in 2003.

I had posted this under ATDI by mistake. Reposted here. Too many car shows.[:o)]

I was also thinking of coming but have not registered due to some schedule uncertainties. I work for a boss who likes to spring surprises. At the moment I plan to drive from Bend to Portland on Sat the 3oth in the AM. Is that too late to get in and park with the rest of the wedges? Is there a cutoff time? Can I camp or would I have to get a hotel?

Nick, placement of the cars goes from 8am to 10am. I'm not sure how lenient they are about that cut off. You can camp, if you get there early enough to stake your claim on a spot. Spots start filling up Thursday and it gets really full by Friday night. Depending how much space your campsite takes up you might be able to squeeze in somewhere. My campsite usually is pretty big for a tent site. I didn't camp last year because of the job and the fact that the car wasn't running right. I don't think I'm going to camp this year either. I'm starting a new job tomorrow or Monday and my dad is going to be here from Kentucky the week leading up to the ABFM.

Camping is free for registrants, lots of spaces but the prime stuff under the trees is taken up pretty quick during the Friday. Under the trees is a good spot for the shade to keep the tent cool if it's warm but could be problematic if a wind comes up like it did one year and a branch got blown down, missed me but got the travel home next door.

Camping under the straight line of trees at bottom of map.

You can register ahead of time and pick up your packet on Saturday. You just have to leave Bend early enough to get there before 10:00 am. Shouldn't be a problem. We have to leave at 4:00 am to catch the 6:30 am ferry as they want you there 1 - 1.5 hours before sailing time to preclear US Customs on Victoria side. Getting too old to camp but mostly there's no showers, this year I'm doing B&B's.

When we had the 20 plus wedges I remember cars who had challenges along the way come in as late as 2pm and just park at the end of the wedge lineup.
Because of it being a race weekend cars are coming and going all day so no problem getting in the gates.
With the preregistration you get a card to put on the dash, once the gate staff see that they just wave you in.
I believe the on site registration outside the gates closes around 10 or 11.
I'm looking forward to seeing your coupe.

Looks I'm going to make it. Got a hotel near the airport. Should be arriving Sat morning by 10 or so. Looking forward to meeting everyone and seeing some nice wedges.
The website says I can only get into the display area if I register at the gate Sat morning. Is there any benefit to registering early if I don't plan to camp? I don't need the display space.

Only benefit to registering before Aug 15th (already past) is you get a picture of your car (you send in) in the program booklet.

Only benefit to registering before Aug 28th is you get a dash plaque in to envelope of goodies.

Only benefit of registering Saturday morning is you get your car into the show and get to watch the racing for free.

Only benefit of not going is you don't get a sunburn.

I like the free part. The sunburn part, not so much.
