2014 VTR Nationals

Postby Last TR » 07 Nov 2013 01:14

The 2014 VTR National Convention is celebrating 40 years of "The Shape of Things to Come." September 9-14 in Dobson, North Carolina. And Harris Mann is going to be there. That might be the excuse I need to quit my job and take a cross-country trip in the TR8.

Yes, that is correct. The TWOA Calendar sales is helping to under right the cost of bringing Mr. Mann to the convention.

I understand TWOA is also selling the Bullet Reloaded and Slagle Racing DVDs in support of the effort to bring Harris Mann. I just ordered the calendar and the DVDs.

The events you guys (& gals!) organise over there always look terrific, & it will be the icing on the proverbial cake to have Harris Mann there.

I have been fortunate enough to meet him a few times here in England, he is a charming & rather modest chap who is easy to talk to, and dare I say I think he has been just a bit amazed about the enthusiasm for his design all these years later. You will enjoy his company.

I have purchased a couple of the TWOA calendars to make a contribution[:)]

Don't forget your indelible marker pens for the autograph on the inside of your boot lid (or anywhere else you fancy[:D])

Odd,
The State of Alaska isn't a very flexible employer. I'm about ready to retire anyway; this may be the incentive I need.

Don, thanks for the invite; I'll keep that in mind. Are you thinking of going?

John,
My wife has promised to join me if I get air conditioning installed. I hope maybe we can get a convoy going from the west coast.

Oh I would dearly love to make that trip. It is probably not feasible though. Most employers on this side of the pond aren't very flexible unfortunately. I'm still working for a staffing agency so leaving wouldn't be a big problem. Getting the car sorted well enough to trust it on a trip of that magnitude and the funding would be a problem though.

Ken I do want to go.
It depends on my girls college schedule.
They move in about that time

The timing works well for me; the 2013 VTR/Triumphest was too close to my father's birthday. I'm really psyched about The Mann being there.

Jim - I have doubts about my car and my back being good enough to do the trip. We need a caravan from the NW so we can carry tools and parts. My nurse wants to come, too!

We're hoping we can make it but it largely depends on how well a certain new release sells. North Carolina is very easy to get to from the UK.
