Postby john 215 » 01 Sep 2013 19:40

Hi,

Took a drive a few miles today to visit this local car show, not the biggest show but as is more often the case very friendly [:)] And all for a good cause or two.

Not a car but seen one of these for a few years ( my neighbour had one when they first came out in the early 80's and rode if a few times ) a Sinclair C 5 The owner, a young lady, has sprayed in JPS colours, installed a bike computer etc [8D]

John,

Please excuse my ignorance of British cars. What kind of car is this?

I think it is a BMW Z1. Not British at all Clay. I've never seen one in the flesh on this side of the pond.

Hi Jclay,

As my learned friend say's correctly a BMW Z1, it belong to a friend and work colleage. They are loosley based on a BMW E30 3 series, with a the same M20 2.5 litre engine. They were all manual and all had there sterring wheels on the 'wrong' side, even this one that is a rare genuine UK spec car, most were imported from Europe and not originaly built for the UK.

The body is fibreglass and the doors ' drop ' down into the sills. They are powered by electric motor's which drive that can be best described as 'cam belts '

They are not ideal for the lady in your life though [:p]
