Finding tires in US

Postby jclay (RIP 2018) » 14 May 2008 13:08

What brand of tires are you guys running on your Spiders and TR8 alloy wheels. I am having a terrible time finding a good set of 185/70-13s.

All I can find so far are Yokohama Avid T4 with any performance. Even then, I have to order them from Tire Rack.

Have fun, drive fast & safe, be kewl,

Friend of mine works for Bridgestone/Firestone, and told me a while back that all makers are cutting back on 13" offerings. I bought a used set of 14" Panasports for my TR8 with uprated disk brakes, only to find out that 14-inchers are next on the chopping block (already getting more scarce)!

Either Tire Rack or Coker may be best options for the time being...

Guys,

185/70-13s are not as commonplace over this side of the pond either.

I run 195/60-14s and that range appears to be shrinking as well. I reckon I'll be running 15" in a few years time. At least used MGF alloys are commonplace here as we've seen on this forum.

I also have an MX5 sport (Miatta to the US?) which runs 205/50-15s. They aren't that big these days, just commonplace.

Cheers,

Adam

We still have Pirelli P400s in 185 13s, in Oz.
I fitted some a few months back, & love them.
The best I've had on the 7, with 13 inch wheels.

They are so good, I fitted Pirelli P4000 185 15s to the Mazda 2, &
they improved it out of sight.

Last year I did a search at Tire rack and came up with two Dunlops (poor reviews), Yokohama, Pirelli, and Kumho. Very inexpensive and good reviews. Turned out they were house tire of OK Tire Franchise. They were tire for a Pacific Northwest stock car series so should be available in US. They're Korean, fastest growing tire company in the world. They should be available in your area. They won single seat buggy class of Dakar Ralley 2007. They seem pretty good. haven't been brave enough to chirp them on the corners yet. Make the TR7 like it's on rails. (How much is the car)? Here's a Picture of the tread.
