Advice on upper door hinge

Postby Periwinkle » 12 May 2008 21:51

Hi All,

After a LOOOONG winter without the TR7, it will finally see some color on the body this week. Today, however, when the doors came off for painting we discovered the driver's side (US [:D] )upper door hinge has too much play in it. It looks like the pin is worn. This is dragging the door down and causing it to hit the sill. In turn this is wearing the paint on the door and the sill. I do not want this to happen with the new paint, so here are my questions:

Has anyone else run into this issue and how did you solve it?

Is there a small bushing I can add to the pin to take up the
slack?

Will a Spitfire pin fit??? It seems a TR7 pin can't be
purchased from my regular suppliers.

Thanks for all and any advice.

Peri

Hi,

Problem solved and the hinge/door fits like factory. The old pins were removed and the holes enlarged slightly to take a Chrysler door pin which had been cut off and slightly beveled to fit. Gotta love the guys in the shop here. [:D]

I guess it won't matter that she has a little American in her since the driver is a little American, too![:)]

Thanks for reading, and I hope this will help someone else.
