Looking for a continual live feed

<b><font color="green">I know that there is an always live feed going to the radio, but I was wondering if there was one going to the cigarette lighter too? I have fitted my flashing LED and brought it down the back of the dash and brought it in to the hole where my radio will go soon. Would the cigarette lighted give me the continual live feed even when the ignition is turned off?</b></font id="green">

I honestly can`t remember using my ciggy lighter in all the time I have had the car, but I would have thought it was a constant live. Assuming it`s working, try it with the ignition off, that will tell you. If it isn`t working, use a 12v bulb and a bit of wire to test the live feed to it.

The original wire in the loom for the radio isn't a permanent live.The purple wire that feeds the cigar lighter is.

You could also run a wire directly from the fuse box if necessary.
One of the best tools I own is my electrical test light. It is a simple and invaluable tool for troubleshooting circuits. (Inexpensive too!)

Yes - lighter is on constantly - I have used it for electric wheel nut gun! Purple wire as S&S say - and any brown wire is the main 12V +ve bus - but you should fuse any feed you take.

Luckily the light cam with a fuse in it which I will connect up to make totally sure.</b></font id="green">

UKphilTR7 <b>NOTE</b> Brown is NOT the 'neutral'. It is a direct (unfused) live. Earths (not neutral in cars, they are a bit different) are normally black, but a direct connection can be made to a steel part of the body or nearby bolt as the body acts as the earth conductor (which is why the battery -ve lead connects to the body).
