Our lights still have the power

Postby Hasbeen » 21 Dec 2007 14:17

to enthrall. Even if not much use to light the road, they can
still light up some kids day.

Yesterday I went to help a mate with a job he couldn't do alone. On
the way I passed a property where they have recently installed an
in ground swimming pool. They have pilled the dirt from the
excavation in a 4 FT high privacy/planting mound along behind their
front fence, & are planting shrubs, & trees on it.

As I approached the place I saw a bunch of 6 kids, all under
about 8 playing on the mound, & waving to the passing cars.

Quick as a flash, [for an old bloke] I flicked my lights on & off
[up, & down], a couple of times. This realy turned the kids on, &
they started jumping up & down, & shouting, as well as waving.

20 minutes later, when I was on my way back, the kids recognised the
car some distance off & started jumping again. This time, when I
flicked the lights on & off, I caught them out some how. They
started going up, & down, alternately, [one going up, as the other
went down].

This realy made the kids day, & they jumped & shouted twice as much.
I hope its made their fathers day as well. Perhaps he wanted his
nicely profiled planting mound spread all over his front yard.

Still, as an X girlfriend used to tell me, "Its OK, you can't be
good at every thing", & the kids loved it.
I wonder what their mothers thought when the kids told them that a
car had winked at them?

Hasbeen,my auto has had this affliction since i got it 4 years
back. You flash, the light pods come up together, they both go
down in unison after 10 seconds (i've timed 'em - sad,i know!)
then the n/s pod winks!I meant to fix this but the 'one who
must be obeyed' likes it coz "it gives the car charactor".
It brings a smile from other motorists, allthough one so and so
remarked recently "i'm surprized they work at all on a TR7!"
Does any one know how to alter the time these pods stay up
when you flash them.I keep thinking they should drop quicker,
say 4 seconds after the flash. Is this controlled by the
pectron thingy?

See ya. Paul

It is the pektron - I intend to ditch the wretched pektron and just hold the switch for however long I want to flash. My left light also tends to wink - unless I stop the engine. With lower volts when not charging it works perfectly - but when charging it seems to run through the stop band - and starts off on another cycle. Probably needs the bottom stop adjusted to give it a little more resistance at that point - so it stops in the brake zone.
