Kph Speedo wanted.

Postby Steve » 27 Nov 2007 21:23

Hi all

I'm back at long last as a TR owner again, just bought a 1980 TR8 efi LHD [:D]. I'm looking for speedometer reading KPH, mileage does not matter.

thanks

Keep an eye on E-bay - they turn up there now and then...
I've bought several over the last years, most of them NOS.

I have California car (with Mph) and of course in Canada we use Kph. I sometimes like to pretend when I see an 80 speed limit sign I say OK 80 it is as I see the speedo needle swing up.[:D]

Mostly I just do the .6 conversion in my mind like I've been doing since the early 70's when my long term Javelin was in Mph and Canada had just made the jump to Metric leaving only US, Liberia and Myanmar as the sole holdouts.

Have you tried Rimmers?

Hi all

Thanks for the replies, I’m always looking on e-bay, and I’ll only use Rimmers as last resort, bloody expensive.

Keep me in mind if someone finds one.

Assuming you've got one of the higher reading speedos i.e. not the one that only goes up to 80mph, why not just have it recalibrated so that the existing markings are correct for kph?

Hi Chris, good to hear from you again. I might be over in the UK for the 10thFeb, maybe see you there.

My speedo by the way is a brand new instrument cluster with a 140mph unit in it. It's not a big problem, but I would prefere a speedo with kph.
