Fonts?

Postby Cobber » 13 Feb 2023 05:11

Anyone else finding it difficult to read the new heading fonts on the site?
Or is it just me? A bit too curly and swirly for my buggered old eyes.

Fonts are ok but annoying, that's why i use Bold text. The thing that annoys me is trying to put pictures on...

Stops me posting most of the time the Parameter of the sizes you can use is far to small for most camera phones.

resizing can be awkward
If it's not broke don't fix it.

Yeah the curly swirly font would probably be better in bold, pix are often a bugger on forums, the process here in easier then some of the forums I’m involved with, part of the problem is which forum software is being used, sometimes the options are limited within the software itself.

Ahh I just noticed that there seems to be no edit button, maybe it’s just me but I can’t seem to find it.

No quote button either, I probably should point out that I’m using an iPad, maybe it’s all there on a normal puter

Yep posting this edit from a regular laptop and it's all there... the buttons are all present and accounted for!
The title font is as before too.
Dunno whats goin on but it's weird, the site seems to have changed it's presentation on the iPad in the last week or so.
Has anyone else got this problem? Or am I just lucky?
Does it present different on a mobile phone? I don't use the mobiles for internet, bloody screens are to small for me and both phones have the big screens! Which is why I use an iPad when I'm out and about.

Ok so here’s an example of the curly swirly fonts I get on the iPad:

78CD54B9-F735-4212-B476-B4F9E68274C4.jpeg (226.86 KiB) Viewed 8900 times

Here’s an example of weird layout I’m getting on the iPad:
303222BB-73B6-4525-B690-8DE8071078EA.jpeg
303222BB-73B6-4525-B690-8DE8071078EA.jpeg (182.7 KiB) Viewed 8900 times

Big blank square thing there with a tiny question mark in the guts of it

And here’s where the missing buttons should be:

Anyone else get this?

Everything looks normal on a normal computer/laptop, other devices need special site programing to make it look a certain way or they will do their own interpretation of code. The site can only handle so big a picture (think CRT sized pictures), it will not automatically resize like FB etc. The consequence is on high definition that we get with today's devices is the picture will look small. Saves space on the website but becomes an issue in today's marketplace. Wasn't an issue with storing websites where you could paste in links so the picture wasn't actually stored on the website but that "free" option is gone on many (got to monetize you know). My main issue is so much space is waisted on banners at the top that you can't actually read/do anything unless you scroll down. A higher resolution would help that but then everything else would appear too small to read. Everything went down hill after we got rid of the ubiquitous 640X480 CRT. :D

I only tend to use the laptop so things look OK - except for the TR7 TR8 part of the heading which always stays at the top of the screen as a ghost and makes it difficult to read post text under it.
For pictures I usually use and external hosting site, imgbb now as it is free. Not sure if this is what I always did on this site as I have not posted a picture for along time but I do use it on other forums.

Trying an old photo for external hosting:

and it works. You can select the size as small/medium/large and that is medium.

It all appeared normal on my iPad until about a week ago, so what’s changed?
I can’t be the only one to use an iPad here, which is why I’m asking to see if they have the same presentation.
If they don’t then I can assume it is at my end somehow.

Oh My text is nothing like that, but as said the TR8 TR7 bitis annoying.
I used photobucket in the past and i did have the pro bucket, but as said the price went up so high it was not worth it.
I will look into this imgbb host.

This is what i get

Ok this is getting a bit weird, I just came onto the site to check of any replies…… logged in saw no new responses and scrolled down to see if there were any new posts elsewhere, whist doing so the screen flickered and the site went back to normal presentation…… seems to ‘be fixed itself!
Not complaining mind, indeed I’m glad it come good, but just a bit baffled is all.
