I have been perusing the UK manifestos and came across this in the UKIP one:

"Exempt vehicles over 25 years old from Vehicle Excise Duty".

Some TR7's are already tax-exempt and even the newest TR7 produced will qualify under the current rules in the next few years anyway.... Hardly a good reason to vote UKIP, the trouble with this election is there is nobody worth voting for

Now I can't claim any expertise on your elections in Pomgolia, but based on my experience here in Oz, most punters (with at least one brain cell) don't vote for candidates, they vote against them!

Other than possibly the worst selection of candidates in years it's exactly the same, but like you say, voting is usually a case of I'll vote for 'X' so that 'Y' or 'Z' don't get in

I'd like to see compulsory voting with one of the options being 'NONE' so you can show that you are willing to vote but dislike all the candidates.

Then I'd like their salary to be a percentage based on how many vote for 'NONE' so that if 75% of the entire population vote for 'NONE' then they only get 25% pay

I assume this is about the battle bus and £350 million? If so, you are subject to a bit of fake news as UKIP and Farage had no say in the battle bus slogan as it was a "Vote Leave" thing. Boris might have had a hand in it though.

Anyway, the exemption would also help out Land Rover drivers, amongst others.

I am not going to be more specific. I have the advantage that I am able to read various opinions from both sides of the pond.
So I'd advice you do some reading on various press articles published on this subject over the passed year,
(both left en right wing please) from the UK, The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Base your opinion from there

That is a fair comment. We are taking a risk, as nearly all our intellectual property is offshore owned (as is lots of land!!) and all our IT seems to be off-shored (see the recent British (Spanish!??) Airways problems). We will definitely have to up our game.

Note that Farage said, during the referendum, that we will probably get a 5% (GDP?) hit, but that it will be worth it for democracy's sake.

I, for one, will be sad when we leave as I voted to stay in the 'Common Market' back in 1975. I have stayed the same ....

What is vehicle excise duty and when do you pay it?

Ignoring the political points, Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) is an annual tax to be allowed to use a car on the road. It used to be called Road tax (or variation of) but for many years was just a tax which went into the pot with all the others and little went to the roads. A few years back they (the politicians) did say that it would now be used to improve the roads but there is little evidence of it happening.
They did start a programme in about 1998 for classic cars where you were exempt from the tax for a vehicle over 25 years old. However, it did not roll as had been thought and the year stayed as 1973 or older. Then a magnanimous government in 2016 started the rolling - but based on 40 years old - exemption so my 1981 car will be free in 2021 (if they don't change it again)! The tax is currently £305pa if paid in one lump, terms are available.
(The basis of VED for new cars has changed a couple of times since to take account of carbon etc but that does not affect older cars).

In my opinion one of the biggest problems (or should I say challenges) for the EU is their lack of information and PR.
They have done a lot of good things over the years, but people take that for granted and just don't realise the advantages the EU has.
Also the European bureaucracy is something that needs addressing sooner rather than later. A complete waste of money
But overall I think the EU has more pro's than con's, so worth being part of as a country or a private citizen ...
