A speke worker!!!!

Strange how things come to you

As well as being a tr7 enthusiasts ive also been working on honda vtr1000 v twin motorcycles, and as such im a member of the excellent vtr1000 forum.

I got talking to another owner who turned out to be local to me, and i invited him round for some vtr chat, but during the chat it transpired he worked at speke on the tr7, and he availed me of a couple of interesting stories, just in that brief chat. - wonder if its worth me conducting an in depth 'interview'???

Would be nice to have some inside stories, especially considering the (production) problems that arose during that period

I'm hoping to get Peter Sankey along to the Bullet Run. He was one of the special Speke production line workers who deputized for others on various parts of the line whilst they went on 20 minute breaks. As a result he completed many sections of the cars during final assembly. Keep your fingers crossed.

Brian, get this other chap in front of a video camera and ask him about the really crazy stories such as being able to get measured for a fully tailored suit, the new leather jacket selling area and the causes of the strikes. Then was he there when the final shutdown was imposed and how it affected him specifically. If we don't document these people now then all too soon it will be too late.

Dnt worry john, he is a very close cntact now.

One of the stories he told me was how they fitted a self made roll cage to a tr8 that had had various body bits robbed off it and raced it around a field during night shift!!!!

Stories of stuff just being chucked in a skip if one tiny part was missing.

Im sure he will have more stories!!!!!
