Anti-dive Kit bush problem?

Postby Spike » 06 May 2017 14:58

Finally got round to fitting an anti-dive kit and some polybushes. Problem is that when you tighten them up the bush gets squeeze out a bit on one side. Double checked and it's fine on the other side.

Is this something to worry about? I noticed that the there's a notch where the bush goes in the subframe, but none of the ally blocks have this.

Quick picture showing the problem.

Did the anti dive mount have a section cut out like the one on this page?

If not that would explain your problem.

I don't think any of the kit's available have this notch.

Maybe time to try some aluminium routing.

The only kits I've seen have rectangular aluminium blocks with no rebate but some owners on the forum have machined their own rebate to match that on the subframe.

My own polybushes bulge out of the saddle clamps just a touch. I fitted polybushes to the ends of the arb at the same time with the car on jacks, fitted the ends through the track control arms, let the car down on to the wheels and then raised the arb via the saddle clamps with 2 trolley jacks in attempt to keep all the forces equal to minimise distortion of the polybushes. If you're lucky all the bolts line up with the holes first time, I wasn't so lucky but smearing that white grease helped.

I just used the "saddle clamp" that came off the standard mounting setup, I assume yours were missing? It fits between the cross-member and the bar mounts and has a recess for the bush to sit in. Mine do still bulge a lot and were buggers to get on, but that is with an uprated AR bar which is of a larger diameter.
