Accessing the files/handbooks by JClay

Postby mc-design » 05 Jun 2016 10:01

Hi, I have just joined the forum as I have a 1980 DHC and need to find the chassis dimensions to do some major repairs. I intend building a chassis jig to build off, I have a fully equipped machine shop, and wanted to find the dimensions. I came across JClays site but cant work out how to access the files (they are on the Icloud I think). Can anyone help with some instructions for a windows user!

Thanks, Mark

That will be good if he can help.

I will start by detailing the jig and will then have a set of detail drawings to work with (I make my living designing machines etc so have Solidworks at my disposal). Once they are drawn I would be happy to make them available if anyone else needs to do the same.

Hi Mark,

I am sure you have already seen it but the BL workshop manual can be found online in various places such as Steve's site -

https://app.box.com/shared/g3jjbcxm2z

Shows a fix head car, but as both car's featured same subframe etc guess a lot of the pick up data points are the same. Pages 290 onwards are where you find the info.

Sounds a interesting project, please keep us updated.

Cheers John

Well, as much as I have tried - and I have tried quite hard - it is proving impossible to get enough dimensions to fix the chassis/suspension points in 3D space. I have some of the dimensions but not enough to build a accurate jig. If anyone has any other information I would be very happy to hear from them!

Information on the Churchill body jig (700 or 707) might help but they seem to be absent on the internet as far as I can tell. Perhaps they all got scrapped or shipped out of the country?

Regards

Mark

Neither of those two link's seem to work for me either. What about using that time machine website? Maybe you could go a couple years back and see if the website would work then?

Try my iDrive for the workshop manual, chassis stuff starts on page 288.
