Plug for hole

Postby DNK » 11 Feb 2014 19:00

Does everyone with A/C have this hole for their coolant line to go the the interior matrix for the A/C?

Yes, have that on both my current drivers.
1981 FHC didn't have A/C but has the hole but plugged with a grommet
1981 DHC did have A/C which I ditched and plugged the hole with the grommet from my 1980 DHC ...

And it is not the coolant line, these are in the normal location for a 7.
Think it is from the condensor, but not sure as I only remove A/C from these cars [:p]

I was my own supplier as I do have some spares lying around.
But for the restoration of my DHC I also used universal grommets to plug holes.
Easily obtainable this side of the pond.

I found a big plastic plug at the hardware store. 2 inches.

EDIT: I think the hole is actually 1.75", I didn't have the calipers all the way down inside the grommet groove. The outside diameter of the grommet is almost 2.5".

Cut a strip of cardboard 1.75" wide, see if that fits in the hole. If too small, try 2", etc.
