I'm guessing you have a convertible?

A little background might help. Was it working and just got stuck? Or has it been sitting for a long time? Do the handles seem to be moving the mechanism or is it acting like it's locked? A lot of experience on this forum but a little information would probably help

unlikely something broken on the latch, the most common thing is the anti burst latch stuck (DHC). If you have a convertible look at the other open door and beside the latch on the door you will see a tongue that comes in contact with a wedge slider on the B post. Lube the slider so it slides in and out. Now for the stuck door. Works best with 2 people, have one hold open the door latch and the other give it a few good boots with the heel of your foot on the upper inside part of the door where the door card is backed by metal. Be careful not to hurt your foot as you use it as a hammer.[:p]

If this gets it open, lubricate the anti burst latch before closing it again.

I would suggest checking the anti burst catch too. I had to climb out the passenger side one time and that was not made easy because I had a Lenham hardtop fitted and loads of car parts in the passenger side.

Don't have to take anything apart, the anti burst slider is exposed with door open. Just make sure it slides freely (by lubing with penetration oil and/or your favourite stuff).
