Wheels of Britain Car Show in Phoenix

Postby RJS » 10 Mar 2013 23:08

Went a very nice car show today.

There were 2 wedges there (My 8 and very nice 7).

Here is a link to my pictures.

There were around 150 cars there.

The MG Magnette is owned by friends of mine (we live in the same small town - I ran into them several years ago at this show and found out we both had british cars).

Thanks for sharing!

Is that a real C-type Jaguar, or a replica? That is one of my favorites.

It was a real C-type. They put it in the same class as a real 289 AC Cobra, and a Pembleton Grasshopper. The C-type won it's class.

Never in a million years would I have guessed a real Cobra in great condition would not be given an award.

In Arizona you treat summer like much of the world treats winter. We enjoy the winter, and then head inside for the summer where it is temperature controlled.

You see Rob - we all want what we not have and reverse [:)]

But I was pleased with the photos with the british cars and the weather!

My family and I now have 10 days degree flu behind us .. so spring can come -
Next year I want to go back to America - maybe I can visit some TR7 haha

Looks like a great venue for a car show. I love the desert.

Thanks Rob...The C Jag.: every boy's dream. Was that an orig.Morgan V twin?
We still have snow in Penna., but it should be gone by July's Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix.
I'll share some pics then. Last year: 7 or so TR7/8s were shown.

Can't tell you if it was an original Morgan v twin. I had never heard of a Morgan v twin or seen anything like this before. There was always a big crowd around the cars in that group so I didn't spend much time there.

It was in same class as the C-Type and AC Corbra, so I would assume it was original.

Is it the same "Morgan" as the more traditional Morgans we think of (plus 4, plus 8)? They had their own class.

There are companies that make Morgan V Twin copies, some with more modern more accessible Japanese V twins engines. There's usually a few show up at Portland ABFM.

Hi,

Great pictures and lovely weather, was booked in local show on Sunday but cancelled as we still have snow on the ground round here !! The Mini auto brought back memories of sore hands caused by shaking the gear train back and forth to align the clutch plates, the last one always took the longest! when rebuilding countless FWD BL auto boxes.

Cheers John
