There also seems to be some much needed footage of the TR7 pedal car second to last.....

Usually these archives are around £500 per minute or part thereof. And you ain't allowed to purchase rights to just one minute.

That's a shame. At that price these may be in storage for some time.

I was talking to ITN Source in 2007/8 about their archives. I was most likely the only possible customer for the TR7 films they would ever have but the cost was prohibitive even though they would have been prepared to negotiate.

The only real chance for any of this is a worldwide gathering of all TR7/8 enthusiasts into a single club of several thousand members. Then perhaps we'd be able to get things like this done. We'd also have the backing to get unavailable parts made. But as it is we're all too spread out and even if the TRDC were to start making moves in this direction it would be resisted by other Triumph clubs in the UK.

Why is that? Fear of loosing members? Getting unavailable parts made is a function of cars not available for break up times value of cars in rough and restored shape. Given the amount of cars made and their value up to now we haven't reached that point yet. But we have started the journey. Not so many years ago we locally have gone from no TR7's to a good handful, and comments from "you don't want to buy that car" to "the more I see it the more I like it".

Rather than a "club," a central world wide voluntary "Registry" that would require minimal expense to run that would show prospective manufacturers the potential market would be more acceptable. But then the fear of loss of control of personal info in this world of the internet would be impractical to over come.
