2012 All Triumph Drive-in

Postby Last TR » 26 Jan 2012 22:09

I'm planning to head for Oregon for the All Triumph Drive-in this year instead of the All British Field Meet. Partly for family reasons; the ATDI is in my hometown and I have a family reunion in Washington the week before. Also thought it would be fun to do something different. Anybody else thinking ATDI this year?

I really enjoyed the ATDI last year, it was a very well organized event that was different than the usual car show/get together. They had a 200+ mile drive through E. Washington that was a treat. I'm probably going to next year's event, but I haven't heard of them doing anything like the road trip. Although going over the mountains and down, then through the Columbia River Gorge could be a nice trip just to get to the show.

Having grown up with an MGA in Forest Grove, where the ATDI is being held this year, I can assure you that there are lots of great driving roads in any direction. Besides the Columbia Gorge and the Cascades, the coast is only about 60 miles west. One reason I'm going to check out the ATDI this year is to do more driving.

I was thinking of attending ATDI this year instead of Portland ABFM which is only a month later. This gives me a chance to shuffle/attend different car show/events that I miss when I go to Portland. I didn't attend the local ATDI in Fort Langley two years ago as my neice's wedding was that weekend. Too bad they still lump the TR7's in with the TR8's. The first year I went in 2007 (Steveston) I won second place against a TR8 the guy had just spent $30,000 on. That year there was more TR7's than TR8's and I got the simpathy vote.[:p]

I may go. It depends on where I am with school, I should be graduating around then. I'll probably just make the 40 mile drive each day and not stay out there. I'll surely be at the Portland All British though.

Jim- You must have been busy with school. Long time ,no hear.

Only problem with the ATDI.
Only Triumphs there.

Oh, I've been lurking around here a bit. [:D] Yep, the knowledge is just oozing out of my ears.

That is a problem? None of those Jags, MGs, Healys,Rovers and whatnot to get in the way of enjoying all things Triumph. [8D]

Nope. I finked out. I don't think I had a good reason. But this year I'm in.

Merv - Glad to hear you're thinking of coming to the ATDI. How about the rest of the BC crowd? I kind of hate to miss the ABFM this year, but variety is the spice of life and all. If I lived closer I would do both.

Don - I'm with Jim here - what's the problem with no MGs and Healeys? Hope you guys both can make it.

I mentioned it to Bill (upgrading his TR7 to Sprint on another post). He hasn't been to ABFM yet, two years ago his passport didn't come through in time and last year he had to work. He always attends ATDI when it's in BC. I'll mention it to Ron next time I see him.

I'll mention it to Ron as soon as the old man rolls out of bed :)

But for now, I think both him and I are going to try and get to the ABFM. Can't beat the racing and track-side camping.

Both cars are out of action at the moment tho :(
